Liu Yonghao

Chairman, New Hope Group Business Circle

‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍Mr. Yonghao Liu is the founder and chairman of New Hope Group, vice-chairman of China Minsheng Bank. Mr. Liu has been an iconic figure in China’s private economy for over three decades with great vision and creative mind. In 1982, Mr. Liu quitted his job as a school teacher and became an entrepreneur. With initial capital of only 1,000 RMB, Mr. Liu went off to start his private animal feed and farming business together with his three elder brothers, in his small hometown, Xinjin County, Sichuan Province. From there Mr. Liu gradually expanded New Hope Group’s business and presence throughout China and to over 30 countries. New Hope Group today has become a modern conglomerate of well-established corporate governance and management, which successfully has invested in a wide range of sectors, including food and modern agriculture, dairy and fast moving consumer goods, financial investment, real estate, and etc. Mr. Liu currently serves as a member of the 13th CPPCC(Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference). He was also a standing committee member of the CPPCC, the deputy director of the Economic Committee of the CPPCC, a deputy to the 12th National People's Congress, and vice-chairman of the 7th and 8th All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. In addition, Mr. Liu is also the first president of the General Association of Sichuan Entrepreneurs and the co-founder of Sino-Australia Hundred Year Agricultural and Food Safety Partnership (ASA100). He also launched China’s Guangcai Program along with other private entrepreneurs, a philanthropy program to help the poor fight against poverty. He has been nominated as “Top 10 Reform Figure in China”, “Top 10 Private Entrepreneurs in China”, “Economic Figure of the Year by CCTV”.
